This week we shine the spotlight on Jamie, a full-time photographer living in London. His work has been featured in high-profile print & online outlets such as Time Out, The Independent, Gay Times Magazine, Metro, About Time, Attitude & Cosmo Online.
How did you get started in photography?
I've always loved telling stories through visual mediums so undertook a BA & Master degree in Filmmaking. My day job after University was working as a Content & Social Media Manager for a restaurant company but I slowly started to realise that I could bring what I had learnt (& loved!) about film into photography & slowly started building up an image portfolio of some of the events we used to do. The company saw that I had a skill in that so after a while, I became their lead photographer!
What has been the highlight of your photography career so far?
The highlight of my career has definitely been to photograph the first-ever Cambridge Pride. I love shooting Pride events because the message behind them means so much to me. Furthermore, this one was so special as Cambridge was the first-ever city I lived in on my own during Uni. To be running around the stage, photographing these amazing acts with hundreds of people watching, in the town where I really came into my own definitely brought a tear to my eye post-shoot!

I took this for a London restaurant chain for their Pancake Day 2019 promotion. Having done a few shoots with them before I was pretty savvy as to how they liked to do things and that the staff also loved to get in on the action. This shot wasn't planned at all but as the chef was preparing another dish, the girl picked up the whole stack of pancakes and munched down on them. I managed to snap the shot just before the stack fell apart. Being able to save such an amazing moment that would have otherwise gone missed is what I love the most about photography. The restaurant used it as their main image for the promotion so it's safe to say they liked it too!
If you could photograph anyone in the world who would you shoot?
RuPaul would be a brilliant person to photograph; combining that fierceness and beauty with his humour would definitely make for such a fun photo-shoot!
If you could do a shoot anywhere in the world, where would you shoot?
I would love to do an underwater shoot if I had the gear! Always been fascinated with the deep, blue sea and the opportunity to capture that world through image would be awe-inspiring.
What can customers expect from a photoshoot with you?
My greatest asset is being experienced in adapting my skills into any situation. From small, intimate gatherings to large-scale events, I have continued to successfully keep my clients ecstatic by understanding and delivering exactly what they want. No two jobs are the same and I approach every shoot I do with a 100% client-first attitude.
What is your favourite thing about being on The Shoot?
I love the experience of being able to connect & work with different people on a daily basis. Having people respond to some of the work I have on there and decide they want me to shoot for them based on that is such a great feeling!
