We give a warm welcome to Kirsty this week! She is a full-time family photographer based in London. A former journalist, Kirsty is originally from Zimbabwe and made a career move into photography four years ago.
How did you get started in photography?
I'm a journalist by trade and if you were looking for me of an evening around 7 years ago, you'd find me tramping around London on the night-shift, knocking on doors and chasing down stories. That got less fun once I fell pregnant, so I quit the trade four years ago and decided to change from telling stories with my keyboard to telling stories with my camera - it's WAAAY more fun.
What has been the highlight of your photography career so far?
Being flown out to Spain and South Africa to photograph some wonderful families. I LOVE to travel and so when people contact me and ask if they can fly me out so that I can photograph their family, I literally cannot pack my bag fast enough!
Please share with us your favourite image from your work.

I was photographing this gorgeous couple at sunset in Richmond Park, when the sun dipped behind the clouds, sending out these gorgeous golden rays across the sky... it couldn't have been more romantic, or a more perfect ending to our shoot!
If you could photograph anyone in the world who would you shoot?
I don't really have one person that I'd love to photograph, but I do adore meeting people from all over the world. I've photographed families from the USA, Australia, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong... the list goes on! And I love hearing their stories, I love learning about where they are from and what their lives are like. We all have such interesting stories to tell, and I love having this beautiful diversity in front of my camera.
If you could do a shoot anywhere in the world, where would you shoot?
I mean, London is pretty special (especially with all the gorgeous architecture), but I'm also a sucker for a beach, especially during golden hour, I'm not picky about the location.
What can customers expect from a photoshoot with you?
Lots of laughter, lots of cuddles. It's my aim to make sure you have fun during your time with me, after all, we are capturing precious memories here. I always try to find out as much about my families as possible, because I tailor each and every shoot I do specifically to that family, so it is a completely bespoke experience. I want your personalities to shine through, so you'll have a gallery full of memories to treasure for your whole lifetime.
What is your favourite thing about being on The Shoot?
It's a great community - what a fabulous idea!
